About
In addition to the exteriors, the guided tour will reveal the château's large reception rooms, with their beautiful neo-Romanesque silhouette, and its magnificent chapel, copied from the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. Late 19th century (1876-78) - ISMH
In the heart of the land of the Dukes of Bourbon, Château de la Chaussière is one of the most important neo-romantic buildings in the Bourbonnais region (MH). Built in 1876 by the Riant family, descendants of the master forgers and owner-builders of the Europe district near the Saint-Lazare train station. Located on a promontory with breathtaking views and surrounded by centuries-old oak trees, the name La Chaussière comes from the former château de la Vieille Chaussière, now in ruins, which was a residence of the Dukes of Bourbon and the seat of a ducal châtellenie. Anne de Beaujeu, daughter of Louis XI and regent of France, stayed in this place of pleasure; the edifice was ruined by the Wars of Religion, the Fronde and the Revolution, and all that remains of it is a single section of wall surrounded by water.
