2,000 years of the history of Bourbon-l'Archambault, the little town with the big name, are revealed to you in a cosy, intimate atmosphere... all illustrated with models, displays and testimonials.

Founded in 1937 by academician Augustin Bernard (geographer and historian, who died in Bourbon-l'Archambault in 1947), the museum bearing his name evokes the history of Bourbon-l'Archambault, the "little town with the big name", recounting the birth and evolution of the seigneury and then the duchy, the distant cradle of the Bourbon dynasty, as well as the very special aspects of the town's 2000-year history as a spa town, not forgetting the different aspects of rural life in the Bocage Bourbonnais in the 19th century.
